I’ve been thinking about the Christmases of my childhood recently. And I remember the busyness of it. My mom baking on weekends for weeks in advance, lots of presents under the tree and the chaos of the day.
My parents were each one of six kids. So I had lots of aunts and uncles, house full of cousins was great fun, food and chaos. As a child, it was bliss.
Now, my bliss is a much quieter affair.
Lots of good food, of course, but smaller gatherings with loved ones and friends, often stretched out over a few days. Good wine, candles, limited chaos. That’s my bliss today.
Whatever you celebrate, and however you do it, I wish you joy and happiness this holiday season and throughout the upcoming year.
